Justin Hillgrove grew up coloring on the walls of his childhood house in Snohomish, Washington. He's been painting and illustrating all his life, but started designing monsters upon inheriting some canvasses and art supplies from his grandfather. The rest, as they say, is history, and Justin has created enough friendly and fierce creatures to populate an entire world. He's inspired by his wife and three kids, and also by the work of artists like Nathan Jurevicius, Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki and Gary Baseman.
